My daughter, who is 2.5 years old, has been attending Little Snowflakes for a year now. We have been so happy with the care she receives. I have never once questioned the care or attention she has received. The director, Muzi, and the teachers have always been so loving, and she truly enjoys going there. They are very communicative, and overall it has been a very positive experience for us. I believe I have high expectations in this regard, and Little Snowflakes has exceed them.

Review from the Spring 2023 Early Education Survey
I cannot say enough good things about
Little Snowflakes Group Family Day Care. Our son was surrounded by loving and patient teachers who guided him through every milestone from 9-18 months old. Our son would bounce with excitement every time we arrived and always had a smile on his face when we picked him up. He loved the stories they read and circle time and all the time they spent outside. I would send my child there a million times over.
Amenities: Has outdoor space, provides meals
What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing!

Location: Henry St. between Baltic and Warren Type of facility: Daycare Review: Little Snowflakes has very loving, kind, and competent caregivers. The woman who runs it is on top of everything (it’s her own small business and she takes a lot of pride in running it well)–the place is meticulous, and somehow our son comes home with clean clothes every day (I can basically send him to daycare in his good clothes and not worry about them being stained); he always has a clean diaper when we pick him up. It’s important to note that they only take children 14 months and older at the Henry Street location, though there are other locations that I think take younger babies. They have music class every week, art class every week, do a nice birthday and “graduation” celebration for each kid, they do cooking with the kids, gardening (they just grew cucumbers and tomatoes–the kids participated in planting and picking them, and then they sent a whole bag of produce home for us!). There’s only one class with children of different ages–from 14 months to 3 and a half years. The kids and caregivers really are one big happy family. They’re pretty flexible–you can choose to send your child in all 5 days or only 3 and your hours can vary too (though you stick to the schedule you choose; if you need extra care, like an early drop off one morning or an extra day, you just get charged for it on that month’s invoice). Best of all is the outdoor space–they have a full backyard and they go out every day unless it’s raining or too cold. I recommend Little Snowflakes wholeheartedly! What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals, They’re flexible and we’ve had to drop our son off earlier some days and go in some other days and they’ve always been accomodating. What would you change about the program, if anything? I can’t really complain about anything–we’ve been very happy there. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? They follow the NYC dept. of health protocols for the most part. There haven’t been many Covid closures like I’ve heard about at many other daycares (I think there was one so far the whole time we’ve been there, so in almost a year).

Type of facility: Daycare Review: We’ve loved having our son in this caring community. They take great care of the babies and he loves being dropped off there every day. Everything is very clean and the environment is warm. What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? We wish there were a few more photos! Our experience at other daycares was more direct communication with the caretakers and we had a better sense of what was going on during the day. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? We were told that all caretakers are vaccinated and they wear masks.

I highly recommend Little Snowflakes on Jackson Place! My son “graduated” this week to start preschool and we are all so sad to leave.
January 2021
My son has gone to Little Snowflakes between 6th & 7th Avenue on Jackson Place (near 16th St) since he was 5 months old. They have a toddler room that is run by very sweet and caring people (all Turkish decent) and they have kept things very clean and running smoothly since opening back up in June. They recently released a policy on travel and when testing is needed based on symptoms that all make sense. The kids are not wearing masks, but the teachers do and there are 2 teachers per 10-12 kids. The teachers seem very cautious and it’s usually the same 2-3 teachers so less exposure to other people. They provide food within the monthly rate and I’ve found their prices reasonable vs others. And they have their own backyard, which was important to me vs using parks and playgrounds right now. Good luck!

My Child has attended Little Snowflakes since 4 months – first on the baby “side” and now on the toddler to 3 “side”. The facility is in the first floor of two homes side by side. My older son attended as well. This place has been a home away from how for my kids and I attribute this to the amazing, loving, and energetic teachers and director. They are so caring and warm my son looks forward to his days at Snowflakes (and the older loves to visit.) He hardly wants to leave at pick up. They are busy with different activities (music, yoga, reading, building, play doh, dance, occasional cooking) and have outside are for play. I love that they eat family style and there is a lot of time for open play. They plan activities for even the little babies – the outside time is “sunbathing” in the shade of course – and even do little crafts. They have strong teacher retention (same caregivers are caring for my second 6 years later) and try their best to make schedules work for full time working parents. My son is treated like a family. My only suggestion is for when the bigger kids are old enough it could be fun to walk in the neighborhood but I can see how between circle time, activities, meals, and naps that it would be difficult particularly because toddlers are roughly 18 months to 3 years. I can’t say enough about how much I love Snowflakes and take every opportunity I can to recommend it!

2019 – 2020
We love Little Snowflakes. The head teacher is the most loving, magical, wonder daycare teacher you could imagine. All day is filled with joy, laughter, and music. The days are just structured enough for kids their ages: circle time, music class, free time, and etc. They provide all meals which are amazing. They have a lovely backyard so the kids go outside everyday. I cannot say enough wonderful things.

They have two spaces: one for babies and one for toddlers (they are in neighboring buildings). Our child was in the baby space and I can honestly say that those ladies have loved our child. They also have a nice outdoor space, keep everything very clean, and did a great job transitioning our from baby food to the food that they prepare. I would send our child there again if we did it all over again.

Dear Muzi,
We want to thank you and your staff at Little Snowflakes for providing amazing care to both of our children (currently ages 3.5 and 1.5) for over three years. We have loved being part of the Little Snowflakes family and we are extremely sad that our youngest will be leaving shortly. I know that the teachers at your school love my kids as if they were their own. It is evident that they take great pride in caring for them and sharing with me their daily accomplishments upon pickup. One thing I worried about as a new mother was I wondered if I would be able to find a daycare that would provide my child with all the love/hugs and kisses they need as such a young age. Therefore, I feel truly blessed to have found Little Snowflakes because this is a place where my children have gotten so much love and support as they grew from little babies to toddlers. As a mother, it’s hard to entrust someone else to care for your child (especially beginning at four months of age), but from the moment I did my walk through at Little Snowflakes, I knew it was a perfect fit. The locations on Jackson are clean, bright and cheery and the staff is focused on the children at all times – they are always reading to them, playing with them. or singing/dancing with them. Regardless of when I stopped by to pick up my children, my kids as well as the others in the class were genuinely happy and thoroughly entertained. The teachers were always working hard to engage all of the children regardless of age.
In the infant room, Sibel the manager has been instrumental in helping me raise both of my children from infancy. She has taught them how to share, help others, and even survive without their pacifier. What I also really appreciated is that she would help guide me as my children grew (which was extremely helpful as a first time mom with my oldest) – for example, helping me understand when my child was ready for a sippy cup or to drop a nap. Sibel provided me with advice when I asked but did not push her opinion or her way of doing things on me. She always respected my wishes and I felt she truly had my child’s best interest at heart.
In the toddler room, Sengul the manager is also amazing. She too has loved my children as much as I do it feels and has been a very important part of my children’s lives and we continue to stay in touch even after my oldest graduated over a year ago. My oldest still lights up when she sees pictures of Sengul which proves to me that she loves her and her time at Little Snowflakes as much as I did. Sengul helped my oldest (who was an only child at the time) learn to share, wait in line patiently and perhaps best of all put on sunscreen without a fight! Sengul also works very hard to create a stimulating environment for toddlers that helped them learn through play at a young age.
Little Snowflakes is not a daycare to me, the teachers and the owner Muzi are family.

We had such a good experience at Little Snowflakes that we sent two kids there! The “baby side” is very loving with appropriate activities and stimulation for the babies. The “big kids” side is full of fun activities and the teachers are top notch – they really got to know our kid and have helped him become a thoughtful, nice little boy. They go above and beyond to give the big kids a wonderful experience.
As working parents, we appreciated that they emphasized the kids going outside and that they wash bottles, water bottles, and blankets on site. They are very clear about their sick policy and work hard to stop illnesses from spreading. Most importantly, we really trust the providers and value the ideas and suggestions they have about raising our kids. We asked for advice for everything from teething ideas to effective ways to handle behavior issues and we trusted their suggestions– which usually worked! – because it was so clear that they knew and loved our kids. Both our kids love the teachers and love going to daycare, and they have been invaluable in helping us parent. Our only regret is that it doesn’t go through UPK!

Dear Muzi,
There are no words that can adequately express the sincerity and depth of our gratitude for Snowflakes and its wonderful teachers.
You’ve been such an important part of our lives and essential to the growth and development of both of our children from babies to toddlers to little girls. We feel so lucky to have found you, and to have been a part of the Snowflakes family and community for the last 4 years.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Sengul, Sevda, Gulsum, Gul, Sibel, Tugba and all the other teachers over the years who have filled our kids’ lives with so much love and have nurtured, taught and really helped raise them.
It has been a pleasure for us to have been a part of the Snowflakes family and get to know and become friends with the Snowflakes teachers – and all the kids and parents.
A particular acknowledgement and heartfelt thank you needs to be said here to Sengul. Since day one, we’ve developed such a deep appreciation and admiration for who you are and how much love, kindness, wisdom and boundless energy you bring into our children’s lives each and everyday – and what you mean to them, and to us.
This is not goodbye – as we hope to keep in touch and see you around the neighborhood. This is just a thank you!
We will coordinate with you all – and other Snowflakes alum – to organizer a get together soon in the park, to celebrate the extended Snowflakes family.
See you all soon!
With gratitude,
Ella and family

Age: 1-2 years2-3 years3-4 years Review: Little Snowflakes has two locations on Jackson place, one for infants and toddlers up to about 18 months and one for older children up to about 3.5. My child is in the older room after transitioning from the infant room. I adore the lead teacher of the toddler room, and my child does as well. She is engaging, encouraging, loving, and truly a gem. Each day they have a ‘class’ such as art, music (with an outside music teacher) or yoga. They also spend time outside in the back yard whenever the weather is nice. Each day you receive a report on how your child did, and any concerns. It’s not a lot of data but whenever I have had questions they address them. For transitions, they are being helpful with potty training and helped my child transition from the infant room to the older room with no trouble.PSP note, this member previously reviewed this facility in 2014.

He’s in the infant to about 18 month group and will move up to the older group next door once he is down to a single nap. He adjusted well and the staff have been very helpful and communicative about his progress. He seems to love it there and gets excited to go in the mornings. The staff help him practice the words he knows and he has learned new things like playing the xylophone. They have also helped him learn how to drink out of a cup. Program: Young Babies Length of Time: It’s a full-time program, my daughter goes 4 days a week Child’s Age: Review: We started our daughter at Little Snowflakes when she was 3 months old. The day care sticks to a very regular nap schedule and was very focused on shifting her onto that schedule which we were a little hesitant about at first but has worked out fine. They also have set bottle and meal times so we had to shift her feeding times onto their schedule and we follow the same plan at home which has worked well. They allowed for some transition days but didn’t want me to dictate a ton of particular instructions..they have a system that works so if you’re willing to be on board with their system it will be a good fit. The teachers are very loving and make sure to hold the little babies a lot, give them tons of kisses, etc. My daughter would always smile or get excited when we dropped her off and clearly has a strong bond with the teachers. They sing to the babies a lot and are silly with them..it never seems out of control and they keep the day care very clean. Now that my daughter is 11 months I wish that they had more activities, it seems like its mostly unstructured play time (sometimes with her playing with toys on her own), nap time or meal time. They do provide food which is very convenient although not all of it is organic as it was originally described. I never worry about safety or that they aren’t watching her and talking to her and being kind to her though. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Recommend Would you send your child again? Maybe

Program: infant room Length of Time: full day Child’s Age: 1-2 years Review: The teachers are great – high energy all day long, even at 5 o clock at pick-up when they must be spent. The teachers clearly love babies and help them to meet milestones. They give a little report card at the end of the day with the basics but honestly I don’t get and don’t ask for a lot of information. There’s a line for pick-up and all I want to know is a good day or not so good (cranky). Other than that, I”m just ready to get home. March 14 2014My daughter, Colette (3.5), has been attending Little Snowflakes Daycare for over a year. Everyday Colette looks forward to going to Little Snowflakes. the teachers are so patient and loving and provide a very safe nurturing enviroment for all the children in thier care. The children enjoy scheduled activities, such as art projects and music classes, When waether permits, the children play outside to stimulate them with physical activity and fresh air that is essential for children’s development. The children are challenged vdaily with fun learning activities and are encouraged to master developmental skills. Little Snowflakes provides delicious and healthy meals ang snacks. The children are well socialized and have a common respect for teachers and the other children that is reinforced by Little Snowflakes. My best care possible when i drop her off in the morning. Colette is very smart, confident and well adjusted for her age, which I can attribute to her experience at Little Snowflakes, I highly recommend Little Snowfalkes Daycare

March 14 2014Little SnowFlakes Daycare was home away from home for my then 2.5 years old. Muazzez Melikoglu (Muzi) and her exceptional staff have been nothing but warm, caring and nurturing from the moment we walked in the door, always full of love, laughther and happiness, You are greeted with the kindnest, most genuine smiles and a hug that would make our children feel safe every morning until thier families cam back to pick the up.
In these early hours, our little ones are in the mos influential stage of thier young lives. Molding and shaping them into kind hearted, phenomenal little beings with strong values and skills are so important and done with such care at Little Snowfalkes Daycare.
Teaching them throught arts, dance, music and yoga daily, my son always came home happy. singing a new song, carrying a new piece of artwork or telling me about a new bit of knowledge that surprised me everyday. Thier meals and snacks were always very nutrious and organic, sometimes even grown in the Little Snowflakes location’s own garden with the help of our little ones.
As our children move up thier ladder of growth, it;s bittersweet as thier time nears to move forward because everyone has grown so close to one another, But ther strongest bonds have been formed and these relationships continue to prosper as we carry on with our journey still keeping in contact with the parents, children amd most of all, the care giver at Little Snowflakes Daycare who will always be an important part of our children,s life.
I could not have chosen a better stepping stone for my toddler when i walked into Little Snowflakes and was greeted by Muzi, a kind soul, conscientous business owner and now, an important part of my family.

We had our kid at Little Snowflakes (Jackson Pl – one of the side streets off 16th St between 6th and 7th ave) from about 3 months until 2 years old. The ladies there are very cheerful and good with the kids, and also magically keep to a steady nap schedule. A colleague from work had a kid there now and is happy with them.

August 04 2012Length of TIme: Full Time Child’s Age: 2-3 years Review: We have been nothing but happy with the care that our daughter has gotten at Little Snowflakes. The staff are very loving and engaging with the children. The facility is clean and inviting. And they have a lovely little backyard to play in. They feed the children breakfast, lunch, and a snack, and the children all take a nap at 12:00. Each day they have a special activity – yoga, dance, music, art, play-doh. They also go outside twice a day and have indoor play time. I’m impressed that my daughter learned to sing her ABC’s before she turned 2 and could count past 10. She also learned the words to many songs. They serve 12 children and have 2-3 adults on staff each day. I highly recommend Little Snowflakes! Do you recommend? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend

My daughter is learning amazing amounts of information every day. She loves going there and has so many friends. Program: under 2’sLength of Time: Full TImeChild’s Age: We’ve been there only 6 weeks and the staff has been really patient and accomodating with my baby. She has taken a while getting used to bottle feeding, and they have given her a lot of time and attention to help her with this transition. They keep a very clean and tidy and welcoming environment. Full days KID AGE:2-3 years We’ve been very happy with the childcare at Little Snowflakes. The teachers are warm and loving, and have helped my son through many transitions (potty training was just the latest!). The hours are flexible, and they are open year-round, making it easier for working parents. My son is in the 2-4s program, and they also have infant care next-door (which is convenient if you have more than 1 child in daycare/preschool). In addition to regular activities like reading, puzzles, blocks, etc., they have weekly yoga, dance, music and art classes, as well as a lot of time outside. It’s play-based, and they seem to have a regular routine (even though I wouldn’t call it a very structured program). My son really enjoys being there and likes the other children and his teachers a lot. Highly Recommend/Recommend or Do Not Recommend?–Highly recommend Review Date: Fall 2010

My son (now 2.5) has attended Little Snowflakes (group family) daycare since he was 6 months old. They have 2 centers next door to each other, with a shared backyard space. One center has babies aged 3 months up to about 2 years, and last year they expanded to add a 2-4s program next door. I have been really happy with them. There is a great continuity of staff (only one teacher has left in the 2 years we’ve been there), and they are warm, caring, and wonderful with the children. The centers are very clean and are recently renovated (both are ground floor apartments). (Another big plus for me is that they provide all the food once the kids are done with baby food, which means one less thing to need to worry about.)When my son was in the infant center, they did an amazing job of helping get his naps onto a schedule that worked for him, but were very flexible with his needs for sleeping and eating. I also felt their communication with me throughout his infancy was very clear, and they obviously love the kids. I was hesitant leaving my son in full-time care, but after a short time I had absolute confidence in the women who work there, and my son really thrived. I can’t say enough good things about their infant care. When my son moved to the “big kid” center next door, I was hesitant about how he’d adjust to a more rigid schedule, but the teachers were patient and worked with him and me to get him onto a new nap and eating schedule. Now we’re working on potty training, and they’ve been just as good about helping him with that transition (they don’t require kids to be potty trained to start, but are very helpful with it). Throughout all these transitions and more, I’ve really valued their efforts to work with me on any issues that I’ve raised, along with their patience for my first-time parent neuroticism! My son is learning so many new things every day (I’m constantly amazed at the new words and concepts that he comes out with when we’re home, and know that he has to have gotten them from school). I also like that they spend time outside almost every day (unless it’s raining a lot). I guess the best recommendation comes from the fact that when I get there, my son almost never wants to leave! It’s not a “fancy” preschool, so if that’s what you’re looking for it may not be a good fit for your family. But, if you want a small child (and play) centered setting, where there’s a very close connection between the teachers and kids, Little Snowflakes is a very special place. They have flexible hours, and are open from 8-6, Monday – Friday. One thing I’ve really appreciated as a working parent is that with some advance notice, they can often accommodate somewhat earlier or later drop offs/pick ups if necessary.

October 04 2010I can highly recommend little snowflakes which isn’t too far from you – it’s on Jackson Place which is a small block b/w 6th ave and 7th ave near prospect avenue. It’s a home daycare and is really well run and they start at 3 mos. My younger daughter is there now, she is 7 mos, and was born last november. I’m really happy with it…they are extremely nice, flexible, warm, loving etc…. when the babies start to eat they use organic food and they have a nice little yard for the kids to play in. If you are interested in contacting them, I’ll.
